What is Health? We all ask ourselves, what is to be healthy, and how can we improve it? Health is more than just not being sick, and if you are, you can bounce back. It can balance, all aspects such as the physical, and emotional aspect within the body and spirit that needs to be continuously maintained by each individual. To understand one’s health, it is essential to understand what makes health and wellness better and the difference between the two.
The Different Types of Dimensions and what it means to me, a person who’s always looking ways to improve her health.
What are the Dimensions of Wellness? In total, we are talking about six of them. First, we will talk about the Emotional Dimension, and what does it mean. The emotional dimension is awareness and acceptance of one’s feelings. Emotional wellness includes the degree to which one feels positive and enthusiastic about one’s self and life. Emotions can sometimes get the best of one person, if not controlled, and try to do best for the person. I agree that emotions can get the best of any person, as it can dictate your mood for the day, what you should do, or don’t.
Spiritual Dimension: Having a sense that life is essential, and we have a purpose and that we are guided in our journey. Spiritual wellness is about embracing the metaphysical and reaching beyond the physical realm of existence and experiences. What this means to me is looking forward to what life brings, and staying positive, that everything happens for a reason, or it has a purpose in life.
Intellectual Dimension: Being able to interact with the people around you, be interested, show emotion, see that other people around you have things to say. One’s intellectual being is about continued learning, problem solving, processing, and creativity. Intellectual wellness involves connecting with others on a logical level. To me, this means having conversations with people and learning something new from each other.
Environment Dimension: Surrounding yourself with a healthy work and living environment free of hazards and focused on the conservation of all-natural resources and the role we play in bettering the environment. Environmental wellness is about respecting nature and your surroundings and in gaining personal fulfillment from our surroundings. To me this means, choosing a career that I enjoy and would be willing to work for in the long term rather than to select one that is unrewarding to me, and I will hate in the long run.
Social Dimension: Social wellness is about relating, interacting, and communicating well with others. Social welfare is also about being comfortable in your skin to be able to contribute and engage in a healthy living environment. Including people in all aspects of our lives is equivalent to social wellness. To me, this means to live in harmony with others than to conflict with them.
Physical Dimension: Maintaining a substantial sound body through regular exercise, proper nutrition, sleeping well, and avoiding harmful habits. Maintaining a consistent, well-rounded exercise program is crucial to physical wellness. To me, this means taking care of yourself for longevity by eating right and exercising.
